Green Living Lady Ananda Leeke Featured as Keynote Speaker for D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office’s National Women’s History Month Celebration

March 25, 2009 – Author/Artist/Yoga Teacher Ananda Kiamsha Madelyn Leeke will serve as the keynote speaker for the National Women’s History Month celebration at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia on March 30. The event is for agency staff only. The theme of National Women’s History Month is “Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet.” Leeke’s keynote address, "Everyday Green for Everybody," will incorporate this year’s theme and provide a snapshot view of her green living journey and how she uses yoga, meditation, and mindfulness to support her intention to live more greenfully. She will also read an excerpt from her upcoming book, That Which Awakens Me – A Woman’s Poetic Memoir of Self-Discovery (Spring/Summer 2009 – iUniverse, Inc.). In addition, Leeke will share how her social media projects, Go Green Sangha social networking site (http://gogreensangha.ning.com) and Go Green Sangha Radio (http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/21325) have helped her promote green living leaders, life practices, products, and services. A short office yoga session will be offered at the beginning and end of the keynote address.

Leeke will participate as a Green Media Project Mentor in Old City Green's Grand Opening Celebration and Peace Garden Dedication on Saturday April 11th at 12 noon. Old City Green, an open air garden center and farmers' market, is located at 902 N Street, NW, Washington, DC. Old City Green's mission is to invite nature back into the city by supporting local landscapers with market value product and by providing the Shaw community and D.C. at large with plants, garden supplies, training and opportunities to increase awareness of and appreciation for our urban garden.
